Our innovative approach to healing changes lives.
Help us to build health equity in low-resource settings. Our science-backed model helps children and youth to access their inner resources under the guidance of trauma-informed caregivers. This is the first step in building resiliency.
Reach Within promotes resilience through an evidence-based curriculum that uses rhythmic activity including yoga, drumming, and breathing exercises to promote self-regulation. A young person will be better able to thrive through a feeling of safety in relationships with others, especially caregivers. The curriculum is also offered in the form of climate resiliency camps and school-based modules to be used in schools.
Caregiving Certification Program
Reach Within trains caregivers and community adults to reframe stressful events. Understanding children’s behavior as a symptom of trauma allows caregivers and other adults around them to positively respond to children’s needs. These imprints of a healthy caregiver-child relationships expand to the next generation and beyond while fostering resilience.
Young people with a history of significant trauma are at an increased risk for poor long term outcomes such as homelessness, joblessness and disordered relationships. Reach Within works to mitigate these outcomes and support positive life trajectories through counseling, mentoring, educational and job advocacy, food security and housing placement.
